Progressive rock, Mondovì (Cuneo).

Gli Athene Noctua nascono a fine 2010. L’attitudine e le principali peculiarità della band sono il rock strumentale in continua ricerca ed evoluzione, estraneo a ortodossie e aperto a molteplici espressioni musicali passate e presenti. Se il post-rock degli ultimi 2 decenni e il prog dei seventies rimangono le influenze più evidenti, non mancano richiami krauti, al jazz rock canterburiano, al proto-hard venato di stoner, alla psichedelia a tutto tondo e alle sue svariate concezioni susseguitesi nel tempo. Il viaggio musicale degli Athene non è orientato verso un ideale punto d’equilibrio definitivo, ma vive insieme ai suoi componenti, si nutre delle loro esperienze, ripensamenti, impressioni, passioni.

“Glayx” (2011) è il primo Ep degli Athene Noctua. “Glayx” vuole essere un compagno di viaggio, uno sfondo introspettivo e contemporaneamente comunicativo, socievole, un confortevole “trip” tra passato e presente, tra post rock e prog psichedelico, tra montagne e mare, come la terra da cui proviene.

“Others” (2014) segna un traguardo importante per la band: un album di otto tracce che ben rappresentano le influenze musicali cui aspira il gruppo. Da sonorità più dure a romanticismi post-rock, dal prog settantiano a sperimentalismi elettronici, “Others” vuole fornire un’immagine completa degli Athene anche dal punto di vista della modalità di registrazione, essendo concepito come un vero e proprio “live in studio”. E’ stato registrato completamente in analogico, nel luglio 2013, presso gli Oxygen Studios di Paride Lanciani (Kash, Instrumental Quarter, collaborazioni con Steve Albini).

Progressive rock, Mondovì (Cuneo).

Athene Noctua were founded in Mondovì (Cuneo province) in September 2006 from an idea of Simone Rossi (drums), Andrea Bailo (guitar) and Cristiano Rossi (bass). With their past experiences (they played Punk Rock and Metal), they continued their activity creating new Post rock songs more “meditative” than before. In the first two years, even if the band improved its way of composing and started having some shows in Italy and all over the Europe too, influenced by historical bands like Pink Floyd, Air and Tortoise, and generally from the 70’s Prog, their sound and ideas haven’t been so defined yet. In 2008 they recorded their first demo auto-produced called “Athene Noctua”. In the end of 2010 Tommaso Fia (keyboards) joins the band, an important member who gives a better quality to the sound, more melodic and experimental jazz.
In march 2011 Athene Noctua realise their first ep, “Glayx”, with the collaboration of the phonic Simone Mularoni for Mix and Mastering.
With “Others” (2014), Athene Noctua reach an important goal. “Others” is an eight-tracks album which well defines the global sound of the band: from progressive rock to post-rock, from electro to krauty riffs, it was recorded, mixed and mastered at the Oxygen Studios by Paride Lanciani (Kash, Instrumental Quarter, collaborations with Steve Albini) in July 2013.
